This day exceeded all our expectations in every way possible. The love we felt from our friends and family who came from all over to celebrate with us filled me with overwhelming joy. Everyone went above and beyond for us during our engagement season and I am still so so grateful. I cried often, happy tears.
The wedding planning process was quite seamless for us. Planning it together, in a location where we lived made scheduling appointments and meetings a game changer for us. We went to every “Open House” in the DFW area and found all of our vendors that way, and what was great was we were meeting them that day! I loved not reading countless reviews and THEN meeting them at Starbucks. It worked. It worked for us and I loved that.
Our vendors were the best of the best in Dallas. I was so thankful for each and every one! They have amazing talent and we loved them all individually! I’m pretty sure we became best friends with each of them by the time the initial meeting was over. We wanted great talent of course but also the ‘person,’ their energy, talent, knowledge of trends, and vision for our wedding sealed the deal for us. All in all, this was a very pleasant experience for us and I would do it over again in a heartbeat!
Our love story began as a fairy tale. It was love at first sight. We met at my best friend’s wedding. She was marrying his oldest brother. To this day, I couldn’t be more thankful for their love story as it would eventually lead to my own.
When Kevin and I began dating, we were long distance for the first 7 months. He lived in Dallas, Texas to pursue professional golf and I was living in New York City pursuing my dream job. Leaving New York City after four amazing years wasn’t near as hard knowing that I would be moving to Texas to be with him thus not have to say goodbye to him at an airport anymore [hallelujah]! My Family back in Georgia did not like too much that I wasn’t moving ‘home’ but I knew in my heart they were so happy to see me the happiest I’d ever been. We were together in Texas for 7 months before he proposed.
I was convinced numerous times that “this is it. He is for sure about to ask me.” During our early stages of dating we went on a hike and at the end was an isolated bench overlooking a beautiful lake. We grew so close that day, talking about everything under the sun until the actual sun went down I think. So, as a girl…anytime we were on a hike or I saw an isolated bench I couldn’t help but think he was for sure going to propose right THEN.
He is full of surprises! Always has been! He surprised me on Sunday, February 5, 2017 on the front lawn of our beautiful church Elevate Life in Frisco, Texas. God has made himself very present in our life and our love story and so He wanted to propose in a place that represented that and he wanted a place we would go back to often to relive that special moment. Ever since then, it is a ritual of ours that after every service we go to that same spot and pray together. It’s extremely special to us.
So, that’s all for now 🙂 Just wanted to share a little bit about our love story that lead me down the aisle to my best friend, hero, healer, provider. My love.
